Welcome to ATDN's interactive NEDP Refresher Training. This on-demand course is designed to revisit the policies, procedures, and practices integral to the NEDP program, including the specific roles and responsibilities of the Assessor and Portfolio Reviewer. Upon completion, you will be reinstated as an active NEDP Assessor.
This training is required for any NEDP Assessor who has not been active since 2020. Eligible participants must first receive approval from the CT State Department of Education to enroll.

This is the final mandatory training for NEW Program Facilitators and NEW Directors to be able to start administering CASAS assessments. This training explores the foundational framework of the CASAS System and CASAS Competencies, as well as introduces additional tools and resources recommended to select, administer and score both paper/pencil and eTest versions of CASAS tests, interpret test results, and identify curriculum support materials to enhance instruction.
This training provides an opportunity to address any questions you may have about the CASAS module trainings you completed before attending this session. Additionally, we will review Connecticut-specific assessment policies and guidelines, known as the Connecticut Competency System (CCS), and discuss the role and responsibilities of Program Facilitators.

In this training, teachers will learn about the features of Vocabulary Practice and Portfolio and how these components can enhance instruction and enrich learners' independent study. The Progress component will help teachers check for understanding and monitor progress on an ongoing basis by viewing time, scores, and completion of independent work

This training is intended for those using the ELP Standards and who have completed ELPS 101 and ELPS 102.
The rigor for all Adult Education classes has been increased to help learners transition into successful careers and/or higher education. This training will cover best practices for ESL classroom instruction, focused on the presentation of simple lesson plans based on the ELP Standards. It is intended for ESL teachers or ESL Lead Teachers who are familiar with the ELP Standards and have started creating lessons and activities to introduce or reinforce the concepts outlined in the ELP Standards.
Participants will need their own devices as activities and resources will be shared electronically.

Classes with unpredictable attendance are the norm in adult ed, and some settings are more of a challenge for teachers than others. For example, many classes have open enrollment, and most students are not required to attend class. Students with a wide variety of experience—testing at different levels—are often in one class. Some classes, such as those in correctional settings, regularly have students for only a short duration because of their unique circumstances. If you are looking for ideas to teach a class with unpredictable attendance, this is the session for you! We’ll share ideas and experiences and invite you to share your ideas to support teachers in giving students a positive education experience. In this workshop, we will share ideas for addressing the challenge of irregular attendance. These ideas were collected from actual teachers who have experience serving students who attend classes for a short duration or where attendance is unpredictable. During our time together, we'll also collect your thoughts, reactions, and ideas and share resources for support.
Audience: Examples will be set in a math class but the session is appropriate for all levels and classes in adult education in ABE, GED, CDP, ESOL, and Corrections.

The Department of Aging and Disability Services, Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB) is the state's leading bureau for the coordination and provision of services to all Connecticut residents who are legally blind, or have significant visual impairments. These services include training and devices that help people who are blind function in the home and in the community independently; teaching students how to adapt to and learn in an environment that is designed for those with sight and; providing services that help people who are blind find work or keep their job after blindness has developed.
