Elevating Early Learning: Effective Strategies for Modeling, Scaffolding, and Personalized Instruction in the Early Childhood Classroom
In early childhood education, hands-on learning through play is crucial. Educators need effective teaching strategies to create developmentally appropriate, engaging, and nurturing environments. Since each child has a unique learning style, teaching methods must be tailored accordingly to support their needs. This two-part training will help participants engage in discussions and activities with peers, understand their own teaching style, reflect on successful methods with children, learn key components of effective teaching including modeling and scaffolding, develop a plan to enhance their teaching practices, and grow professionally in effective teaching strategies

Empowering Experienced MLs: Strategies for Long-Term Academic Success [In-person]
In this workshop, secondary teachers will learn practical strategies to support the unique needs of experienced multilingual learners (MLs) as they progress through content-rich courses. We’ll focus on ways to design equitable assessments, write objectives that integrate content with academic language, make lessons comprehensible, and structure engaging opportunities for speaking and writing. With an asset-based approach, this workshop highlights strategies to build on MLs’ strengths, support academic growth, and foster success in every content area. Each session will include actionable tasks and resources to apply in your classroom right away. This workshop combines microlearning, collaborative discussions, and hands-on application to ensure that participants gain practical, immediately applicable strategies. Throughout the day, you’ll engage with short, focused learning modules that introduce key concepts, followed by breakout sessions where you can collaborate with peers to deepen understanding and brainstorm classroom applications. Each module includes an application task to help you integrate new strategies directly into your teaching practice, with opportunities to share and receive feedback. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a toolkit of high-leverage techniques to support your experienced multilingual learners effectively. For questions, including registration assistance, send an email to fpacheco@learn.k12.ct.us – include “Empowering Experienced MLs” in the subject line.
