This on-demand training will introduce you to the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) for Adult Education - a set of academic standards that, when met, prepare adult learners for success in college, technical training program(s), and the workforce. You will become familiar with the standards and how to navigate them in this session. We will investigate the Key Instructional Shifts mathematics instruction must make for adult learners to succeed. The importance of taking the time to delve deeply into the concepts at the heart of mathematics will be illustrated. Welcome to CCRS Math 102 - Standards for Mathematical Practice. As part 2 of a 2-part. This on-demand training builds on work done in CCRS Math 101. Participants will experience problems worth puzzling through and analyze the habits of mind required to solve those problems. We will investigate four of the Standards of Mathematical Practices through activities that illustrate the ways students engage with the subject matter of the content standards. The skills of complex problem-solving, reasoning and proof, precise communication, representing problems, seeing patterns, and making connections will be practiced and discussed.
The 2025 Summer Institute for Adult Education professionals offers a full day of professional development with sessions tailored to the needs of adult education practitioners.
