Practical and Actionable Ways to Build Thinking Classrooms
This workshop is designed for educators who are eager to dive deeper into the implementation of Dr. Peter Liljedahl’s 14 teaching practices. In this hands-on session, participants will focus on translating the key principles of Building Thinking Classrooms into actionable steps within their own classrooms. Together, we will explore strategies for refining student-centered instruction, crafting non-routine tasks, and fostering deeper metacognition, all while troubleshooting challenges that arise during implementation. By the end of this workshop, participants will be equipped with the resources and confidence to build more engaging, thoughtful, and joyful classroom communities. This is a great follow-up for those who attended this fall's Building Thinking Classrooms Conference!
Objectives (appears on the evaluation form):
Educators will leave with:
Practical tools for incorporating Liljedahl’s practices into daily lessons
Strategies for adapting these practices across content areas
A personalized action plan for enhancing student-led learning in their classrooms
