UPLIFT: Cultural Humility: Unpacking and Addressing Cultural, Historical & Gender Issues
The purpose of this module is to educate participants about the impacts of educational and social inequities on student achievement. Exploration of educational disparities and important considerations related to ethnicity, race, level of ability, religion, sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation will provide participants with a baseline understanding of the history and importance of educational equity. Overall, this module is intended to increase staff capacity to utilize tenets of cultural humility to better recognize and mitigate bias and disparities in access to educational or socioemotional support. Additionally, this topic is designed to support districts in facilitating meaningful conversations with each other, students, and community members around educational equity.
