Translating the AASL Standards into a Library Curriculum
This workshop focuses on unpacking the AASL Standards Framework for Learners in order to identify essential skills that students need to be college and career ready.Participants will begin developing a library curriculum by:oReviewing the structure of the AASL standardsoIdentifying priority standardsoDeveloping enduring understandings and essential questions for the priority standardsoDeveloping benchmarks for grades 2, 5, 8, 10 & 12 (for the grade levels that apply to your school or district)oWriting objectives for grade level bandsoCreating a scope & sequence
Objectives (appears on the evaluation form):
•Increase knowledge of the curriculum development process•Understand how the AASL standards shape the curriculum•Use the templates provided to begin developing a library curriculum aligned to the AASL Standards
