UPLIFT: Compassionate Leadership: Paving the Way for Trauma-Informed Schools
The purpose of this module is to ensure that leadership and invested educators are well prepared to support their school/district in developing the skills to better recognize and support individuals who are impacted by trauma. Foundations of Trauma-Informed Care is strongly recommended as a prerequisite, as it is expected that participants will already have an understanding of the potential repercussions of trauma and toxic stress on brain development, and resultant implications for learning, academic achievement, engagement, and social success. Through a combination of direct instruction, conversation, and learning activities, this workshop highlights the role that leaders have in sustained implementation of TIC strategies to positively impact not only students, but staff and caregivers as well. This module includes introduction and guidance on how to utilize tools provided via the RESC Alliance UPLIFT: Trauma-Informed Care Training Program, identifies benefits and challenges of implementing a trauma informed approach, supports action planning and goal identification, tracking of progress toward identified goals, and reporting successes along the way.
