UPLIFT: Taking Steps Toward Collaboration & Mutuality
In this module, participants will reflect on practices that inhibit or encourage collaboration in the school setting. Content and activities focus on developing strategies for improving relationships by prioritizing shared power and decision-making at all levels. We will explore the impact of power dynamics, and discuss collaboration-focused strategies that can foster improved communication and leadership opportunities for all staff. Participants will discuss current practices (e.g., teacher evaluations, parent-teacher conferences, PPT/504 process, etc.), and strategies to increase collaboration and mutuality. Additionally, participants will receive information about local community resources available to support themselves, students and/or families (i.e., collaboratives, faith-based organizations, health centers, town-based social services, regional behavioral health action organizations, etc.) to further support students exposed to trauma and families in need.
