Ethical considerations have been discussed in many circles, yet formal training has been lacking for recovery coaches. This 16-hour training addresses this critical need. Based on the widely used Ethical Guidelines for the Delivery of Peer-based Recovery Support Services by William White and PROACT (2007), we designed this training to help coaches and anyone else working in the peer role, to understand how critical it is to be ethically responsible. Using presentations, small group work, and role play to address many areas, including defining the coaching service role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision-making, performance enhancement, and legal issues. people supporting other young people on their recovery journey. This ground-breaking training program
is among the best for young people interested in recovery coaching. This course will provide you with
the knowledge and skills to guide and mentor others through their recovery process. It is open to
everyone – people in recovery, family members, friends, and allies. Much like the journey of recovery,

This five-day, 30-hour training is an intense, immersive experience designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to support people in recovery effectively. RCAC 30 is not a passive learning experience. It is emotionally and mentally demanding, calling individuals to be fully present throughout the week. The training encourages deep personal reflection, challenges assumptions, and fosters the type of honest, courageous conversations that define impactful Recovery Coaching.
Coaches will explore what it truly means to walk alongside someone in recovery, offering support without fixing, empowering without directing, and connecting without judgment. This course is as much about personal growth as it is about professional skill-building. By the end, individuals will not only understand the core principles of Recovery Coaching, but also have experienced the kind of presence, resilience, and self-awareness that effective coaching requires.

The purpose of this program is to help you, as a recovery coach, understand what spirituality is and how you would help someone discover it. This two-day course will help you explore your own beliefs and values regarding spirituality. This training will provide you with the tools and resources needed as a recovery coach so you can speak about spirituality in an accepting way. Just like the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy©, this training is going to challenge you in a way that helps to promote your understanding of spirituality. We believe that spirituality plays a large part in recovery and hope that by completing this course, you will be able to help those you serve understand, accept, and embrace spirituality for themselves. Now that recovery coaches are recognized as having a profound impact on recovery, many more organizations are looking to hire coaches. Coaches who can easily demonstrate professionalism may quickly assimilate into these new, exciting employment opportunities. CCAR Training is dedicated to building training programs to support this movement so that coaches can regularly refine their craft of actively listening, asking good questions, and managing their own stuff. These high standards of excellence for our training programs and expectations of what we feel makes good recovery coaches. Typically, you’d find recovery coaches at your local recovery community centers, but, now we are seeing a greater need for skilled coaches in professional settings, such as to work in other hospitals, treatment facilities, police stations, and court systems. When the ability to work in the Connecticut Department of Corrections became an option, we eagerly jumped at the chance. People who have faced jail time, incarceration, or any involvement within these settings have multiple barriers to overcome, so why not provide recovery coaches who can assist in navigating those barriers while providing support in their recovery journey? There is no better setting to serve as a recovery coach. Many of our coaches know these systems well. The best resources for navigating these systems are people who have used them. This is where our lived experiences will serve us two-fold. Not only do we get to share what we know, we get to share who we are in recovery.
