Supporting Autism through a Trauma Informed Approach- Participants will remain curious about what they observe when supporting Neurodiverse students and its relationship to trauma-informed approaches. Objectives: Identify how trauma can affect individuals with neurodivergent conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorders) differently, and recognize the unique challenges and responses neurodiverse students may have to trauma. Identify trauma-informed strategies that are sensitive to the sensory, communication, and emotional needs of neurodiverse students, while creating safe, predictable, and nurturing environments. Develop skills to foster emotional safety, resilience, and trust in neurodiverse students through individualized supports, empathy, and consistent routines that help mitigate the impact of trauma.
