Storyboarding! How to Transform Your Curriculum into an Engaging Learning Journey
How can we shift from a piecemeal approach to curriculum coverage to one that is deliberately is written for my students of all backgrounds and abilities? How can we craft an engaging storyboard that will hook my learners’ imagination? Join us as we walk through our approach to designing a storyboard to be used directly with your students as partners on their learning journey. By deliberately shifting curriculum composition to a narrative approach with crystal clear connections across the school year, student-accessible language and visual imagery, you not only increase the depth of your students’ understanding but hook their imaginations! This approach is versatile, suitable for all levels, from K-12 to post-secondary and professional development. Whether you're revamping an existing curriculum or starting from scratch with a fresh concept, our lively and practical session will equip you with valuable tools and school examples.
Objectives
Learner Objectives: * Explain how components of a curriculum storyboard are designed directly for audience of students to hook and hold their attention * Analyze a before and after case study of an old-style curriculum with an updated storyboard * Generate initial draft of storyboard using coaching guidance

Presenters: 

Allison Zmuda is an international education consultant specializing in long-term projects on curriculum, assessment, and instructional designs. She works with her clients to imagine learning experiences that are worthy of the pursuit for both students and educators, designing work that is relevant, meaningful, challenging, and appropriate. In addition to her consulting work, she has co-authored 12 books including the most recent co-authored with Heidi Hayes Jacobs: Streamlining the Curriculum: Using a Storyboard Approach to Frame Compelling Learning Journeys. She also is co-director of the Institute for Habits of Mind with Bena Kallick and Art Costa.

Bena Kallick is the Co-Founder/Co-Director of the Institute for Habits of Mind and Co-Founder for Eduplanet21. Her areas of focus include group dynamics, creative and critical thinking, personalized learning, and alternative assessment strategies in the classroom. She is acting as a Curriculum Storyboards Coach, skillfully drawing out the best thinking of curriculum designers as she coaches them to generate accessible and friendly storyboards.
