Home Visiting - Working with Families with Cognitive Impairments
This course equips home visitors with the necessary skills to effectively support parents with cognitive limitations in meeting the needs of their young children. Participants will explore the impact of their values and beliefs on parental success, understand cognitive limitations from a functional perspective, and identify the specific needs of parents with cognitive impairments. Through a structured module comprising sections on Introduction, Cognitive Limitations and Executive Functioning, Engagement Strategies, Effective Techniques, and Support Network Development, participants will learn to employ strategies and techniques that enhance engagement and facilitate valuable service delivery for families facing cognitive challenges. Upon completion, home visitors will be adept at recognizing, understanding, and addressing the unique needs of parents with cognitive limitations, thereby promoting positive outcomes for both parents and children.
