Elementary and Secondary Speech and Language pathologists- In this session participants will be able to complete 2 courses on the Learning Pass platform (Attention and Dyslexia) that count towards CEUS requirements. Participants will have time to debrief, share expertise, and fine tune contents for their students. Core Curriculum and Technology Integration in the Music Classroom- Music teachers will engage in a content specific curricular audit in congruence with CREC’s Right Work framework. Teachers will look for interdisciplinary intersections that align with their music pedagogy. There will be specific focus on current best practices with core curriculum and technology integration in the music classroom. Objectives: Teachers will identify action steps to implement equity focused curricular pedagogy, music technology integration, and current best practices for relevant and meaningful arts integration learning experiences. Planning for Best Practices in Social Work: In this session participants will discuss school wide protocols to address student needs. Collaborate across schools to share successes. Objectives: Teachers will leave with a clearer understanding of how to implement SBG into their existing lessons, work on their goals and plan. Workshop ideas around a problem of practice and speaking the target language in the classroom and learn more about SNHS in our buildings. Colleagues will share best practices for analyzing data, using the data to plan instruction and monitoring student progress. Colleagues will have collaborative discussions and work time. Supporting Autism through a Trauma Informed Approach- Participants will remain curious about what they observe when supporting Neurodiverse students and its relationship to trauma-informed approaches. Objectives: Identify how trauma can affect individuals with neurodivergent conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorders) differently, and recognize the unique challenges and responses neurodiverse students may have to trauma. Identify trauma-informed strategies that are sensitive to the sensory, communication, and emotional needs of neurodiverse students, while creating safe, predictable, and nurturing environments. Develop skills to foster emotional safety, resilience, and trust in neurodiverse students through individualized supports, empathy, and consistent routines that help mitigate the impact of trauma. How to Effectively use the Family Engagement Core Competencies- Participants will learn how lead alongside families as they reflect, connect, collaborate, and advocate for families. Learn specific skills that will enhance community engagement. The objective for this session is to have all FACE staff have a better understanding of the core competencies and use them as part of their smart goals for their professional development. Professional Development Day for School Librarians: Elevating Your Library's Presence and Influence: Attendees will participate in workshops, discussions and networking opportunities to enhance Library advocacy, marketing and outreach. Participants will also gain valuable insights in best practices and practical tools to help strengthen school library programs. BRING: Laptops/tablets are optional but helpful.

These 321 Insight training modules are aimed at helping paras and AIs better address challenging behavior and be more effective with students. Juicy Vocabulary: Making Words Stick - Particiapants will focus on robust vocabulary in read-alouds in this oral lang /read-aloud lesson planning session. BRING: Bring one or two favorite children's books you received for your classroom from the Mackin book order we placed or bring a book you think is good for read-alouds. Secondary Social Studies: Professional Learning at the New England Air Museum- Secondary Social Studies teachers will work with the Connecticut Council of Social Studies to learn instructional strategies for improving student questioning in the classroom. Teachers will also work collaboratively to analyze student achievement, using summative assessment data from the First Marking Period. The New England Air Museum will provide tours, simulations, and educational resources for teachers. BRING: Teachers should bring their laptops (with chargers) and writing utensils.
AT and the CREC Magnet Schools-Part 2 - Participants will explore the variety of features available to support students with disabilities in accessing their education. The school teams will be using case studies to drive their learning and to research tools and match identifying features to appropriate tools for trialing. BRING: Each school team will bring two case studies to the PD session for discussion. A fully charged laptop.
Engaging Students - Participants will review ways to assess student engagement and have supported co-planning time do fine tune planning for student engagement. Teachers will reflect on student engagement and strategize ways to maintain / improve engagement. BRING: laptop
Coaching for The Right Work: A chance to collaborate with other instructional leaders to find ways to leverage coaching to advance The Right Work in CREC Magnet Schools. This is a PM session so that you can work with teachers, leaders, or other staff members in AM sessions.
