Home Visiting - Family Play and Infant Development
Family Play and Infant Development explores the pivotal role of play in fostering the holistic development of infants within familial contexts. This course delves into the significance of family play in nurturing children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and sensory-motor skills during the formative stages of infancy. Through a comprehensive examination, participants will gain insights into how various factors such as temperament, cultural influences, and individual differences shape family play dynamics. Equipped with practical strategies and knowledge, home visitors will learn to recognize developmental cues indicating infants' readiness for play engagement and adeptly guide families in fostering attachment, social interaction, and cognitive abilities through different play modalities.
Objectives (appears on the evaluation form):
1. Describe family play and its importance in children's development.
2. Discuss how temperament, individual preferences and abilities, and family culture affect family play.
3. Help families recognize when infants are ready to participate in play.
4. Discuss various kinds of play between infants and adults or other children that promote attachment and early social behavior.
