Discover the profound intersections of history, society, and identity in this engaging Read & Watch Series featuring Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste and Ava DuVernay’s film Origins. Over the course of eight sessions, we will explore how deeply ingrained social hierarchies have shaped America's past and present.. •Sessions 1-6: Engage in a thought-provoking book study of Wilkerson's Caste, a bestseller that reveals the hidden caste system influencing American history and culture. •Session 7: Immerse yourself in Ava DuVernay’s film Origins, a compelling adaptation of Caste that brings its themes to life on screen. •Session 8: Join us for a dynamic debrief session to reflect on both the book and film, connecting insights to our personal and collective experiences. This series blends reading, viewing, and interactive discussion to foster diverse perspectives and meaningful learning. Participation includes a copy of the book, access to the film screening, and light fare. Bonus: Childcare will be provided during the film screening on 3/27.
